In the spirit of helping those who need it most, Direct Media held a charity basketball tournament in the basket and earmarked funds for the tournament prize pool, which was awarded to the National Association of Parents of Children with Cancer (NURDOR).
The amount of ten thousand euros that Direct Media awarded to Nurdor together with the tournament winner Mercator S will be used to purchase a diagnostic device for the Department of Hematology and Oncology at the Mother and Child Healthcare Institute Dr Vukan Čupić.
“This year, the National Association of Parents of Children with Cancer NURDOR marks 15 years of existence, and since the very start our mission is to provide the best possible conditions for treating children. We are succeeding in this thanks to our numerous friends such as Direct Media, which has been with us for many years and which helped to build the hematology and oncology department in Niš, and every year allows the celebration of International Childhood Cancer Day in the Republic Square. We want to thank Direct Media for this gesture of kindness,” said Marija Đurović, member of NURDOR’s Board of Directors.
The charity basketball tournament saw sixteen teams demonstrate superior basketball skills: Smart Plus Research, Nielsen Audience Measurement Serbia, Real Group RGS, Ringier Axel Springer — Media Impact, Ipsos, Adria Media Group, Color Press Group, Tehnomanija, Beiersdorf, Mercator S, Strauss Adriatic, SBB, Hellenic Petroleum, and Direct Media.
“We want to thank our partners and their teams, who responded to the tournament with the massive turnout. We are happy to have these activities promoting our shared values similar to those in sports — fair play and team spirit. I have to say that we saw some good basketball played today, but what makes this event special is the humanitarian nature of the tournament. We have been partnering up with Nurdor for years in creating communication campaigns, and we’re very pleased that this year we helped not only through pro bono services but also donating money. For all the kids that are yet to fight their fights and hopefully win their victories,” said Jovan Stojanović, Direct Media’s Chief Operating Officer.
The charity basketball tournament was the central event of Direct Media’s Sports Day, which was marked by day-long sports and recreational activities for employees.
